Cannot get on GBO - anyone else ?

Anyone else have trouble getting on GBO or posting on GBO at times ? Sometimes there is no problem and at other times I can't seem to connect.

      Same problem here. When you do get on everything is very slow. Been that way for a couple weeks now. Hope you get more answers to your question than i got to mine when i ask.

Probably performing some maintenance. Either that or cleaning up that root beer he spilled on the server keyboard.

My daughter and her boyfriend who both work for apple, said this software was used on the mayflower.
All other sites are faster than this.

Anyone who thinks this site is problematic should spend some time on some of the others.  They would likely come running back here with a better appreciation.  Most connection and loading problems are self induced by folks that either don't maintain their own equipment with proper AV software or just haven't educated themselves on how to work within their own systems limits.  The biggest improvement for me has been to use a browser that is most compatable with each particular site I choose to visit.   WIFI routers can be one of the biggest headaches known to man.  Besides that, all servers have a glitch occasionally.

The only time I've noticed any slow down is when the ad server up at Matt's house crashes. Usually Tim notices it first and shuts down the ads until Matt gets the ad server rebooted.

Other than that which until the ads are shut down or the server rebooted it can kinda shut us almost completely down. I hope we can remedy that in the new year. I will rarely see a delay of a second or two but most of the time pages load so fast I don't even realize they loaded.

Now I do run a 64 bit OS with a blazing fast CPU and 16 gigs of RAM on a 50 meg cable connection. I keep all my protection software up to date and do regular defrags and such.

For sure I can't say why others are seeing more problems than me other than the difference in our setups and internet connection speed. I do suspect some have dial up connections and antiqued hardware. We're not tied at the hip to the current software but of the free software it seems as fast and stable as any I'm aware of. I pretty much never visit other such forum sites so have no clue how they are working or what software they use.

The only problem I have had is finding how to get Firefox to accept GBO's cookie and I have to come here on Internet Explorer which is constantly breaking service with the internet connection. ear

I have found that sometimes when there is a delay, it works to stop it and refresh.  It seems to get stuck on something and just stopping it will jog it loose.  It seems to happen sometimes when I hit "Post" and I assumed it might have something to do with someone else posting at the same time.  Anyway, it's working very well this morning--so far.  I've also noticed that it seems to work better on Google Chrome than on Internet Explorer.


Let me amend that; it is kind of slow.

Could be the rest of your internet connection(s) in your system are having high traffic or problems, or servicing going on.
Could be government hackers looking into your system and comm.....   You know they aren't suppose to do that,,,but if your communications are routed thru another country they can do it there...

to reply to this post, the same people who knocked down the twin towers and fired a missle at the pentagon and flew United flight 93 to an undisclosed location and executed all the passengers and crew are the same people who are messing with GBO.

Well guys dunno how it is at your house but rat now the site is moving about like cold molasses here. I tried to call Matt but he either has his phone off or isn't near it. Went straight to voice mail which I know he doesn't check.

Wow, just as I post that it is again moving at the speed of light. Whatever it was must have cleared itself.

      Same thing here Bill. Everything worked great last night. This morning at 3:00 AM nothing. At 4:00 AM it is working again.

Sometimes if you look there are a lot of visitors on here looking around . That's when my Apple tells
me the server is booked up and to try again. It usually works ok after that , I don't know but could
that have something to do with it ?  GBO advertises for a lot of venders that we here use, so its sorta
like a one stop convenance to me. Check your mail, see what's going on, then just click on where
you want to go to shop. That's a lot of bandwidth so I'm sure that may have something to do with it
also.
