Need details on mortar eprouvette stolen in FL
« on: January 11, 2013, 02:09:29 PM »
I'll try to make a long story short.  About a year ago an Army museum official tells me in passing that he heard a real 1820's US iron mortar eprouvette was stolen at a FL gun show.  He had no more details and I haven't been able to backtrack his info to get more.  Why do I want to know the marks etc.?  Recently I was told of one that's on the market, somwhere in the US, no details as the informant wants to middleman it to me.  He knows I collect odd ordnance including mortar eprouvettes.

At this time I have no way of telling whether the "for sale" eprouvette is hot or cold, having no details on the hot one.  If one of you can get some details on the hot one, I'd greatly appreciate it!
