 Mark twain said "years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than the ones you did do."

 This is one of those things (hunting) many folks say" I can't go just right now", or they keep planing for, and the time never gets here, or if and when that time comes, they aren't any longer physically able to fully enjoy the experience.

 Well, I may have gone through my retirement savings, but I now have the memories that just can't be beaten AND I well never have to say I wish I had of...............! The real nice part is that it all was started by, and with the wife's encouragement!

 Great website and stories! Thanks for sharing. What rifle/caliber did you use on your Aoudad/Nilgai ? I have never seen a Nilgai, but I have taken some nice Axis/Blackbuck/a Texas slam of rams and an nice Scimitar horned Oryx and one huge aoudad. Only big gun I used was 338 RUM with a 180 Accubond on the aoudad. I used .257 Weatherby, 260 Remington, 6.5/284, 6x47mm, 280 AI, and 220 Swift on all the rest. Love hunting those Exotics! I finally managed to visit the UP of MI last spring and used a 35 Whelen AI on a nice Eurasian sow. I really like those wooley hogs too! I take it nhdog means you are from New Hampshire? I've visited there, lovely place, great people, rich history.

 I've got a few guns, but I've really taking a liking to my HS Persion in the .300 WSM. With a 165 gr or a 180 gr. bullet,  the trajectory is pretty near the same and that gives me a option to switch bullets if I need, or choose to. I was always using Federal vital-shok  nosler partions but an outfitter in B.C. convinced me to switch to the old trophy bonded bear claw. They stopped making them a while back for the .300 WSM and had to switch to their new version called trophy bonded tip, actually the same bullet only with a nylon tip and they are a great bullet as far as I'm concerned. The gun really likes those federal's. That's what I used on the Texas trip,the 180 gr probably was a bit of over kill on the aoudad but definitely necessary for a nilgai. They are a tough critter plus a really thick hide, and hard to put down ,their lungs are high and way forward in their chest unlike some other critters. they can take some good shots and still keep going.  Doug found that on his trip .
