Black Micarta grips
« on: May 12, 2013, 12:32:25 PM »
I Recently posted in the WTB section of this forum that I was looking for black micarta grips for model 83 & 97 and have had no luck. Anyone know of a maker outside of FA?
Thanks, hughd

Try Don Collins.

Keep in mind that any grip maker will need your grip frame to make a decent fit.

real micarta isnt used much because its almost as expensive as real ivory. There is not stronger grip material though. Most advertised micarta grips and just a synthetic like plastic and not real linen micarta

FA uses paper micarta for the ivory-like grips. An advantage is that paper micarta can be scrimshawed, while linen micarta cannot. Mine are a pretty good replica of old ivory.
