Our worthless excuse for a governor here in NY just signed into effect the toughest gun laws in the country. Stay tuned... it's only gonna get worse.

Turning law abiding citizens into criminals is going to have a backlash.  I wonder what Remington will do?  They will be sold eventually and I bet they head out of NY.

Come to Indiana, we just had one of the most friendly gun Gov's leave office (term limited) and just elected an even more gun friendly Gov. :)  Besides we have a LOT of deer, great hospitality and our winters aren't like anything you guys have.  ;D

Hope he sends a copy to all the criminals, so they can also follow the letter of the law.

I may be old, but I also may have to go..away from NY State.
My grandson left the Marine Corps a bit over a year ago after 8 years as a Spec Ops Marine.  Now, he and his wife live in the heartland of the USA and are both professionals.  When he left the Corps he was weighing whether to come back home or seek his life's work elsewhere.  I advised him that I would love to have them nearby, but that there is little to no future for WORKING young people in New York State...so he took the position offered where he is now.
I was primarily speaking about economic conditions at that time.  Now it appears we have a dictator who is as bad or worse than what we have in Washington.  Even though New York has many natural advantages it has by it's liberal politics, driven out the productive and invited in the parasite....and is becoming an economic wasteland.  I have 3 grandsons with wives..and all of them have been brought up to be productive..if me, my wife.. and our son & family goes, those very productive grandchildren will likely follow..  NY can stew in it's "Parasite Paradise"..
Now, adding insult to injury, the top parasites in Albany are starting to advocate Stalinism...soon there will be nothing here for old folks either.. I'm getting smothered here..
May God give these liberal fascists just what they deserve.........

I wish I didn't have a mortgage because I would defect to Vermont by the end of the week. I've never been so embarrassed to be a NY resident. We might have surpassed CA on the list of "Sorry we don't ship, sell or talk to NY residents".

At least in Canada we have no limit on rimfire magazine capacity and handguns are limited to 10rd capacity...although you can stuff 12 rounds in a .40cal glock magazine and use it in a 9mm legally...go figure.  We can also legally use 10rd LAR-15 "pistol" magazines in our AR-15s legally but if it's an actual AR-15 magazine it needs to be limited to 5 rounds.

I have heard some commentary that he is doing this partly as a posturing move to specifically run for president.  Time will tell.

I would imagine that leaving your home could be a hard decision to make.  but your son being gone and if your grandsons would leave, you might turn into a happy camper.
I heard cuomos speech and he comes off as a complete lunatic. perfect for president. :o

Bugeye:  Ironglow isn't the only one thinking of leaving.  I would so rather stay and fight, even if it means taking up arms, because to leave means to leave everything, my home, my lands, my life's work, my family background, my family history, everything.  Yes, I have friends who would welcome me anywhere I would choose to go but it would not be the same.  I would be, as some native Americans put it, a man without a center.   I would rather catch a jack-boot slug or go down with a coronary while fighting than leave and I certainly have no problems puting down jack booted thugs regardless of the color of their uniforms.

My wife tells me she is not wedded to this state and I can understand her position but if I were to go anywhere else I would still feel like I am alone, no family, no friends nearby, no lands, no feelings of ownership, more like just being a outcast.  At least during the war, when I thought I might not make it back it almost didn't matter if I fell into a hole and nobody found me or even if there wasn't anything left to send back, I knew I would always have at least a stone to mark my passing.  I feel that if I cut and run I wouldn't even get that, or even if I get a stone somewhere nobody would know who the hell I was.

This sure seems like doom and gloom at the hands of fascists and idiots but some legislators are whizzed enough at the greaseball to begin petitions to repeal the law.  There is even a petition to impeach that pos.  I signed both.  If you want to sign the petition to repeal the law, go to Senator Kathy Marchione's website where she has it posted.   If you want to sign the petition to impeach that fascist bastard I can pm you the link.

You know, we have hundreds of thousands of hunters who go afield every single year and we need all those people to sign both those petitions.   We cannot let this die here.  I know this fascist wants to be the next president, which is why he is moving so fast to 'out do' the socialist in the white house, so he can make his mark in ny and claim to be the god-send for the country.  We have the chance to stop this pos now, or at least to spoil his chances for the white house.  We need to work at this now before it takes hold and he uses it as a spring-board to washington.

The next election in NY will be interesting . Many regardless of political slant will be effected by the new law. They will realize what the new law says is sell your illegal stuff to others out side of NY. It's ok for them to have it , your personal property but not you . We won't allow you to keep it but won't pay you for it like federal law suggest.
Maybe other states will fight NY in federal court ? Maybe NYers will go to court ?
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

This is not over yet. not by a long shot.  cuomo slammed this through solely as a means to get the jump on obama so that when 2016 comes up he, cuomo, will look like the most progressive dem there is, which would set him up for the white house.  However, I think this might yet go to court and be enjoined or at least (hopefully) sent back to the rules committee for further review.  One real question is why, if cuomo was/is insuch a rush to ban this and that, he gave us a year to comply.

There is a petition put up on line by state Senator Kathy Marchione, to repeal and revise the law, that has gathered 1,300 signatures per hour - she is close to 40,000 signature now and the number is climbing.  Some of our local politicians are livid at the governor for this and I doubt they will let it rest.  While the cuomo-ites say there were votes for the law from both sides of the isle, it appears there was a significant upstate/nyc split, which figures.....

The information seen in the papers is quite misleading and one does not know what to believe, esp the newspapers - will there be 'grandfathering'?  What about registration - in ny, all pistols must be registered but not yet rifles or shotguns except by this law. The 7 round magazine limitation - some say sell them or lose them, other say the law says you can have them just not with more than 7 rounds in them.  There is still a question as to whether something owned legally previously can be outlawed at the expense of the holder or owner.  The NRA has yet to become involved except by opinion and I think they are in contact with Sen Marchione regarding her petition; if there are enough signatures I think the NRA may assist with legal action, which could help tremendously.

Yes, I think the next election will be very interesting.  It is noted that every gun ban voting dem has usually found themselves out of a job in the next election and it should be interesting to see how it plays out here.

There is a rally scheduled for Albany on the 19th at noon on the steps of the capitol, but it may be a bit of a set-up.  It was scheduled before the law was passed, possibly as a means to protest the possibility of it being signed, and one poster to the site announcing the rally has called upon all ccw holders to carry their sidearms openly, which is a very bad mistake. This may well be illegal - in the first place, your ccw requires you to carry concealed, not openly; and in the 2nd place, the City of Albany has a code that prohibits the carrying of a concealed weapon within the city limits unless approved by the (Albany) chief of police;  when you consider that both the state troopers who will be guarding the doors of the capitol building and the albany cops who will be cruising the crowd will be looking for someone to step on and make this rally into a fiasco for the anti-gun-ban crowd, carrying a concealed weapon to this rally is a very bad idea.
