I have been looking at the Hodgdon reduced load chart for the 7mm 08 7x57 and the 7mm Rem. Mag as well as their regular load chart for the 7x30 waters this is using their H 4895 powder and it seems by looking at their load data that you can load the 7mm rem. Mag using their reduced loads for the H4895 powder you can get almost the same velosity within maybe 8 FPS from all the cal when using the same weight bullet with the exception the 7x30 waters which you would need to use their load data and reduce the max charge by a couple grns. plus by using the 7 Mag you would have the added advantage of loading it to mag specks for heavier bullets. So my question is if the 7 Mag can be loaded to produce the same velosities as the other why do we need 3 other rifles when the one will do the same job other than the fact we can say we have a rifle in those other cal.
I have been using their load data Reduced loads for the 7MM Mag with good results on deer but you need to remember that this will only work with the H 4895 powder.

I think it's interesting that people buy magnum calibers then spend time and money figuring out how to load reduced loads for them.  Kinda like buying a Ferrari to drive 55 or trying to turn a VW into race car. It can be done, but why?

Well, I dunno...    I figure rifles is like wimmins, just 'cause sumbody got 3 that will do the same job, doesn't mean there isn't another one out there he'd like to try out!  I'm kinda like that when it comes to getting rifle guns; "need" never has entered into the equation!   
 
I look it from another point of view.  I've got a 7-08, 7x57 and 280.  If I want more velocity then they can provide, I may need a 7mm Mag!     Heck, now that you brought it up, I always thought that was a pretty neat cartridge...    I may want to get one myself!

Well first off I never bought the Mag then began trying to make it do everything, I do have all the others but just thought at my age why do I need 4 Rifles when one will do what the other 3 will do and I sure do not need 3 women at my age when the one I have has worked out just fine for 58 years This was just something I noticed in looking at reloading data on those that I mentioned.

I have owned a 7mm rem. Mag for over 30 years, but only shoot my deer with a .30-30. Most of the places I hunt, I could shoot a deer with my .41  mag they are so close, past 60 or 70 yards you couldn't see a deer anyway. I think about selling it from time to time, but I like it. I only shoot it once in awhile, but wouldn't down load the ammo for it. Its a mag--so I'll shoot it as a mag.
But to each their own, reloading is a fun process and if reduced loads trip your trigger--go for it. You only live once--and if you do it right the first time--once is enough.

personaly i dont pull the spark wires off my v8 engine to make it a 6 and dont download rifles. Its rare to get extreamly good accuracy out of a 7mag loaded down to 7 waters level. Another thing is in most cases a 7mag rifle is a 24-26 inch long action gun and with a 3x9 mounted on it pushes 10lbs. Ill carry a gun like that when i feel the power justifys it but if i want to shoot a 140 grain bullet at 2700 fps i can carry a little carbine that weights about 3 lbs less. then theres the fact that if you want to use reduced loads for deer and later that year want to go elk hunting you have to resight your gun. Me ill look in the safe grab the gun thats appropriate for what im going hunting that day and grab a box of ammo the guns sighted in for and go hunting. Plus who the hell would EVER want to own just one rifle!! That would be about like having a tool box with a cresent wrench a pair of pliers and a hammer in it.
