The only reason to shorten the brass is to reduce the length of the loaded cartridge, IF NEEDED. If your loaded round is usable in your firearm with out doing so, use it full length. The FTX bullets were made to use in a lever action with a tube feed, if loading in a handgun, that feature is not really needed. DP
