New Model 7 owner
« on: January 22, 2013, 03:38:59 AM »
Just picked up a model 7 in .308 from a neighbor that quit deer hunting. I think it was made in 1986, walnut stock & 18 1/2 barrel.
Really nice shape, it had a junk scope on it.He included a box of ammo, 3 boxes of 30-30 ammo, hard case & sling for $375.
I'm thinking about a 2-7 scope to put on it. I got it for my 12 yr. old son to use.

Weaver steel bases and lever - lok rings . You gonna love it so much your son may end up not getting it :)

Good buy, I have two both were used when purchased, first was a 7mm-08  youth rifle which I upgraded as my son grew older to an adult size stock second rifle is a 350 rem mag that I purchased two years ago. One is a house cat and the other a lion is the best discription for them . Like them both very much both are acurate and carrying low power scopes 7mm-08 has a redfield 5 star 4 power scope the 350 has a leupold variable 2.5 x 6. both scopes are short light and ride close to the rifle for better minuvering and handleing in brush and thick stuff.

Mine is a 308 stainless.  Bought it on gun broker.  Shoots like a dream.  Only rifle I have used since first getting it two years ago.  I think my barrel is 20".  Works well in an enclosed box stand.

I usually don't like rifles with barrels under 20", but I couldn't pass it up for the price.  I have a Nikon pre-monarch 3-9x40 I'm going to put on it for now.Soon as it warms up I'm going to work up a load for it.

When you need to squeeze into a tight box stand, those shorty rifles sure are nice to have.
