I use an FWB 300 (spring gun) for offhand practice. Been shooting it frequently for quite a while. I use a high-quality, match-grade pellet. I've fired 20,000 of them, different lots. Last night I ran out of one lot number and opened a new sleeve of the same brand, different lot. Immediately, the point of impact changed more than two MOA down and almost two MOA to the left. Visual inspection of the pellet shows nothing strange. I suppose I can adjust the sight and forget about it but I wanted to bounce it off of some more experienced people. I actually thought I was feeling a strange recoil in this essentially recoiless gun! Tried a few again this morning and have ALMOST decided it was a psychological reaction to the shot dropping so far off the target but I'm really not sure. Any thoughts? Many thanks.

I betting that if you weighted the pellets you would find the new lot weights more. I have had this happen before myself. Lawdog

I see it all the time. Especially noticeable in a gun like the FWB 300(nice gun btw). Pellet dies wear and pellet lead formulations change(however minute) from lot to lot. Crosman Premier pellets are know to change from die to die and from lot to lot. Best bet is to buy your favorite pellets in large quanities.

Thanks, fellows. Had a long session last night, adjusted the scope, decided the accuracy was fine so I'll continue to march. I'm obviously not a seasoned airgunner and I appreciate the reassurance.

At the match distance of 33 feet 2 MOA is about .2 inches. That is a pretty small change.

Lee, I see what you mean. I'm a silhouette shooter and have (paper) targets sized for 10 meters. I shoot them at twelve, not that that would make much difference. I guess the chickens are smaller than a dime but after looking at them through a 24 power scope every night they seem pretty big and the shots are very callable because the rifle is so accurate. With the new pellet, a perfect center break dropped the shot well off the animal, about "3/4 of a chicken" low and the same amount left. It took about two minutes cranking on the scope knobs (cheap BSA) to get back on target so my estimate was on that basis. At any rate, even an average shooter like me could clearly see that something had happened.
