swedish mauser 96 bedding
« on: January 25, 2013, 01:16:36 AM »
I am going to try and bed the action on my mauser 96 that has been sporterized with a modern type wood stock and saw the score high kits on midway but there was none for the 96.   Does anyone know of any kits made for this rifle or a kit that would work with the same curvature on the bottom to mate with the pillars and the thread pattern?    I tried to email score high with no reply.    I like the idea of the t-handles and the threaded shaft thing to line it up and keep everything in place, this will be my first try and doing this.   thanks

The kits I saw were simple bedding kits with release agent mixing and materials included. Brownells sells kits and also pillar bedding units to install between the action and the bottom metal. Most of these pillars are universal, requiring the installer to fit them to the proper contors. I prefer pillars pored in place. The fit is always perfect that way.
