Customize a Sig?
« on: January 26, 2013, 06:57:05 AM »
So I was reading different posts about all the other manufacturers and have been looking in the catalogs at the different after market parts available for the sigs compared to the Glocks, 1911's, and on.  Even the glocks have a lot more options than I would have expected.
So the only options I can see for Sigs are Grips, wood, plastic or rubber  and sights.
Does this mean that the Sig series of guns are near perfect?
Or does it mean that the people that flock to Sigs are not creative.
I started out looking for the mag bases that have a hole in them so I can stick a lanyard in them like the early 1911 cav guns and not drop mags in the dirt when at the shoots.

Mcwood  I currently own 3 sigs and in the past have had a few others, I have found that they are for their intended putpose for me are as close to perfect as when purchased, the only difference in the 239s I have is cal. and night sights one is .40 with nite sights the other is 9mm plain sights, am looking for a 357 sig barrel for the .40 just to have it, the 229 is the smothest shooting handgun I have, but I dont use it for CCW as it is just a little heavy it is .40, I had a 220 in .45 and a good friend of mine liked it so well he ended up with it and he claims it to be the most perfect .45 he has ever owned, they are just nice guns take one for a ride and see.  HTH  Jim

If what you want is a relatively light all metal DA/SA handgun, there is little room for improvement as far as design or function are concerned.

Ergonomics may not suit you, and the DA to SA trigger may confound you. But for it's type it is about as refined as you're going to find.

Trigger kit... Not really needed, most find it is pretty damned good for a service pistol.

Tuning... Again, not really needed as they are boringly dependable from the factory.

Accuracy... Again, from the factory boringly so.

All you really need is a few mags and practice in transition from DA to SA.

Well except for a Titanium finish or perhaps Diamond Plate if pimping is in your future. 8) ::)

I own 6 Sigs.  Well kind of 6.
My father took my 230 as his carry gun
and an Uncle wanted to show his wife one and talk her into allowing him to buy one.  5 years later he still has my sig Pro.
I own 2- 226 one 9mm and one 40
a 229 in 9mm
and a P220 Sport.
Oh and a 22 conversion kit for the 220.
Other than someone putting on Hogue grips on the 229 to take a class at gun site and then sold it I have stock guns.

Lord man they might be reading this, be careful what you ask for as it might appear. You know you can get the diamond plate don't you? The titanium abortion has been around for some time.

Yes i know they can be reading this, worse is one of my friends step fathers was the training officer at Sig.  The ACP concept showed up shortly after a conversation I had with him.   They refined it a little but the basic idea is the same.  My idea was more like an Uzi that snapped in with rails but they refined or changed it enough.  Or by chance great minds think alike.   ;)

I don't quite understand the need for a rifle with a 3" barrel shooting a pistol round. But someone must have a need or desire. Now the P-227 is interesting. I'm not going to be the Beta tester, but I could be an early adopter.
