Is there any means of ascertaining the manefacture date of a Contender barrel?  Is there any reference to the original frame number?   kody

It depends on the barrel. I have some info from the old prairienet site. What is it?

The answer to both your questions is pretty much no.   Only short run barrels can be pinned to a specific year or two.

However, an approximate start year and year range is presumed known for some vintages of barrels.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

Factory production barrels are distinguishable up to a point by how they are marked, when a configuration/cartridge was added to TC's advertising, and as I said special or short run (mostly for the TCA, other than the very first made by TC that were only made approximately the first few months supposedly).   So presumed when, not actual start and stop dates necessarily.  Kind of like the "lists" of barrel twists commonly seen, they are not all inclusive of all the twists TC may have used for a particular cartridge/length during it's entire run.   Some are known variations, some just turn up.  Ditto the various open sight vintages, and etc, etc, etc.
