Reaming up from the 22-250 What would you like to see?

So, my 22-250 has a void in the chamber and being as it is an older model I can't get H&R to put a different barrel on it. NOTE: <They Will honor the warranty and put another 22-250 barrel on it> I have other 22-250s So on to reaming it out. What should we make it? 22-06? 22-243? 22 CHeetah? 220 jaybird? I'm kinda putting this up to a vote. I have plenty of rifles for every use I can think of except one... experimenting. So, keeping it safe and using .224 cal what can we come up with for this little rifle to use as a test mule? I'm open to most all calibers but am leaning towards vaporizing critters at close to medium ranges with frangible light grain bullets and I won't mind forming brass and handloading. I have hundreds of 308, 30-06, 243, 6mm 7mm rem mag? brass laying around and will invest in any dies that we need. So let's hear some ideas! we can put it in the lathe, slab it in the mill, we have mucho access to about whatever we need. Let's figure out something fun. It doesn't even have to be practical! Safe, fun and interesting are the names of the game. Let's hear it!

The .22-250 is about as hot as you can reasonably go without just wasting powder.  I'd take the warranty barrel and then sell if you want something else.

If you really wanna be kool, turn that chamber into a Texas Trophy Hunter... Redding has the dies and Nosler 60 Partitions will take anything up to and including whitetails.

Where and how big the void is has not been part of the discussion.
Any re-chamber that does not eliminate the void is wasted effort,
...and if there is one void, there is a chance of another opening up.


...but, the Texas Trophy Hunter (TTH) (22-6mm?) or even (22-6mmAI)
would probably give you the capability of vaporizing bullets if you want,
...much less critters.

Why fool with the screwed up chamber at all?  If you want to do the rechamber why not do it on a brand new barrel replaced under warrenty?

The .22 Newton is a 22-06, .22-284 winchester should get you there! the newton is 54.55grs water, the .22-284 is 67.11. .22-06 Easling based on the .25-06 is 62.86. You could make the .220 Weatherby Rocket! it is not a belted magnum case! uses the .220 Swift as a parent case and has a 51.13 grs water capacity. 50grn spirepoint over 40 grns of 3031 gives 4000fps. The .224 Clark is based off the .257 Roberts shows a 82grn spirepoint over 53.0grns h4350 at 3500fps. any of these should be fun, I think my choice would be the Weatherby, since we can't normally have a weatherby chambered in our beloved handis!

Wow! we're off to a good start. Ibgb3 has a hell of a point as does yru. The void is bad enough that its visually present after ejection. perhaps the first thing to do is determine how big we must go. I'm sure that if i sent it off and started over on a fresh barrel our options could be a little easier and more realistic.
