Rossi singleshot and russian made .22LR
« on: February 01, 2014, 10:41:47 AM »
I was recently ask to shoot in a Rossi 22. I was handed the Rossi a 4X scope and a box of russian made steel case .22lr. I was amazed that after only 5 shots I had that Rossi shooting 1 raged hole at 50 yards. This ammo is stamped with a V , steel cased and I think it was 50 gr.

When I ask where this ammo came from I was told it was bought at a estate sale. I'd like to know how to get my hands on some of this to try in own gun.

i found this old link of some of it for sale maybe the pic will help

ive got a brick or so of that i purchased from a old dude maybe 15 yrs ago. its been a while since i shot any of it. but i do remember it being exceedingly dirty. almost black powder like dirty.im sure it wasnt black powder loaded but really left a lot of residue.

it shot fine but to be honest ive never seen any of it for sale comerically.it would prob be fine for a single shot but good luck finding any more of it in a store.

i would expect if your gun shot well with that ammo then there is other ammo out there that it would also shoot well with.

I find your post interesting.  Somewhere, I saw a thread concerning "worst 22 ammo".  As I recall the Rem "thunderbolts" were the winner with some "honorable mentions" going to the Russian ammo you mentioned.
I had some back in the 80s and as I recall, there were some misfires and some dirt..I'm not saying it was inaccurate though.
