Any opinions on the Rossi 44 mag?
« on: February 10, 2013, 05:22:46 AM »
I'm considering getting one.  I've always preferred H&R single shots over any other.  It would be a no brainer for me to purchase another H&R.  However, they do not have iron sights on the H&R which I would prefer.  I know I could add them, but it would be additional expense.

Seems to me (free advice is only worth what you pay for it  ;) ) that the difference in cost of the 2 being around $200, it would be more advisable to install sights on your preferred rifle, the handi.   :) JMO

Don't seem to be getting many answers on this.  Walmart, has both the Rossi is 238 and the Handi is  272.

I bought the CVA Scout rifle in a .44 mag last year and like it really well...cost in the same neighborhood but comes with scope mount & rings instead of irons sights.  Sights of various varieties are available in many places for CVAs

Duh!  ::)  Guess I wasn't paying attention!   :-[  I thought you meant the Rossi lever action model when I mentioned the price difference.

i really didn't care for it compared to

+ 1 on the CVA  Scout or the handi.   Older handis in 44 mag had sights if you can find one.
CVA is coming out with some changes in the Scout and just maybe they will listen to some of us who have asked them for a .357 mag and iron sights on the pistol cals.
