Kids found Savannah when she was only a few weeks old abandoned in North Georgia woods when I was living near Atlanta. She was severely malnurished , Flea and Tick infested , and Anemic.  Pretty much on her last legs. It was touch and go for about 3 weeks, Though I have always been a dog person she somehow worked her way into our home and our hearts.
That was 19 years ago.

She traveled with us back north when I took a new Job. Today we had to say good-bye to her. Her kidneys started failing Monday afternoon and she could no longer eat as of today. She lived a long life, still doesn't make it any easier though. The house seems so quiet now.  She never asked for much, warm bed , some food , and kept company beside me when I was on GBO.

Peace to you ole girl. we miss you already , Our hearts ache tonight.

Savannah 19 years old.

I have one that looks just like that.  His name is Marvin.  I'd sure miss him if he were gone.  I know how you feel.  I've lost a few over the years.  Dogs too.  It's difficult.  I've a brother that hates any kind of animal, domestic or wild.  He shoots any creature that crosses his property.  He won't go in a house where there is a pet.  I believe people who don't have a place in their hearts for animals are missing a huge part of being alive.

When I first got married, I found a kitten outside the sheet metal shop where I worked.  I brought him into the shop for the day and fed him out of my lunch box.  He curled up on my work coat and slept there most of the day until I went home.  My wife adored him and he has been there when we brought both of my children home from the hospital.  We lived next door to an elementry school for several years and he would always venture across the street everyday to greet kids as they left school for the day.  I named him Major Pappy Boyington "Pappy" for short.  He's been in our family for about 9 years now and he is simply a fixture.  I know on the day he passes I'll be pretty upset because it's the longest i've ever had a pet in my life.  Sorry for your loss.
I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

:)  Howdy! Pets are sure hard to give up. When I lost my first dog it seemed like I lost a child. There are great memories though. There is a great story called "The Cat That Came To Christmas" that can be found with a search engine. It's about a man and a cat and how he deals with the cat passing away. Take care and May God Bless!  Always, Gene

Sorry Bro, my heart goes out to anyone who hurts from the passing of a friend. Gotta admit a tear or two as I read your post and comtemplate my own aging pack. I know too well the pain coming as they go. I havn't shed a tear at a funeral in my life, but just thinking of losing my dogs and cats gets to me every time, they just don't live long enough and are far to perfect in the form God made them to fill.   J

Sorry for your loss.  I know what it means to lose an old and trusted Cat family member.
