Quick question about this receiver.
« on: February 16, 2013, 12:42:36 PM »
Just bought this from a member here locally. Nice Huntsman. I really like it. Plan to keep it until my 45-70 smokeless conversion project is compete. Had a question about it on the Huntsman forum but only one response an he was not sure. This Huntsman is a NS serial prefix and has a special receiver designed so that it cannot accept other barrels. See pictures below of the ridge in the receiver and the corresponding cutout in the barrel lug. Seeing how that is the case, I would assume this receiver, much like the Sidekick, can be shipped without going to an FFL?

my avatar pic is my 1960 Rambler I bought in 1972 for $175..6 banger 3-on-the-tree...drove it for 5 yrs  22mpg.. was "hot-rodding" (LOL) one night...tore out 1st/reverse gear. Drove it that way for 2 yrs(with no reverse and only 2nd and high)  Had to really plan ahead when parking.

Larry,

Best I can tell, it looks just like a sb1.

If it is designed for a muzzle loader barrel only and no other barrels will fit on it then it was designated as a dedicated muzzleloader only and is not classified as a firearm and may be shipped with out an FFL.
That is my understanding of the law.
