Where is the ACLU ?
« on: February 09, 2013, 01:21:37 AM »
Where is the greatly ballyhoode ACLU... supposed defenders of our constitution?  I have heard not a peep from them..and many journalists/bloggers say the same..not a peep from the ACLU !!
On the other hand, their  Christian-conservative alter-ego, the ACLJ is speaking out very forcefully!

The ACLU protects your right to be a sexual deviant, communist, anti-religion, etc.
they interpret the constitution differently than the founders.

Exactly right Defoe. When someone has a fuss about the Ten Commandments posted somewhere they don't like, the ACLU is johnny on the spot. When its anything to do with protecting 2nd amendment rights, forget it. They even stoop as low as fighting for pedophiles right to molest children. The ACLU is a joke, and has many people fooled.

This thread didn't get many replies. How do others feel about the ACLU? Its pretty obvious they don't care about our 2nd Amendment rights, or do some see it differently?

Peter Lewis is the Chairman of Progressive auto insurance, and has donated 25 million to the ACLU since 2001. He has also donated 12.5 million to the leftist organizations Moveon.org and America coming together, two key organizations for the socialist movement.
His funding for these groups was conditional on matching contributions from George Soros, the America-hating socialist who is the chief financier of the Obama political machine.
This list is typical of the kind of work the ACLU does.
If you are a Homosexual, pedophile, hate God, or think that the 2nd Amendment should go away. You will fit well within the ACLU’s organization, and ideals.

Removing nativity scenes from public property
Banning songs such as Silent Night from schools
Refusing to  allow students to write about the Christian aspect of Christmas in school projects
  Renaming Christmas break Winter break
Refusing to allow a city sponsored Christmas parade to be called a Christmas  parade
Not allowing a Christmas tree in a public school
Renaming a Christmas tree displayed on public property a Holiday tree In addition to their war on Christmas, the ACLU uses gifts like that from Chairman Lewis to:
Sue states to force them to legalize homosexual marriage
Force libraries to remove porn filters from their computers
Sue the Boy Scouts to force them to accept homosexuals as scout leaders
  Help legalize child pornography
Legalize live sex acts in bars in Oregon
Protect the North American Man Boy Love Association whose motto is "sex by eight or it is too late"
Censor student led prayer at graduation
Remove "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance
Remove "In God We Trust" on our currency

The ACLU is made up of primarily LAWYERS. What else can be said? I don't know where the ACLU is on this thread, but I know where I wish they were.

The ACLU uses the usual leftist misreading of Miller as the basis for its policy:

Gun Control
Updated: 1/17/2013

The Second Amendment provides: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

ACLU POSITION
Given the reference to "a well regulated Militia" and "the security of a free State," the ACLU has long taken the position that the Second Amendment protects a collective right rather than an individual right. For seven decades, the Supreme Court's 1939 decision in United States v. Miller was widely understood to have endorsed that view. This position is currently under review and is being updated by the ACLU National Board in light of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in D.C. v. Heller in 2008.
In striking down Washington D.C.'s handgun ban by a 5-4 vote, the Supreme Court's decision in D.C. v. Heller held for the first time that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to keep and bear arms, whether or not associated with a state militia. The ACLU disagrees with the Supreme Court's conclusion about the nature of the right protected by the Second Amendment. However, particular federal or state laws on licensing, registration, prohibition, or other regulation of the manufacture, shipment, sale, purchase or possession of guns may raise civil liberties questions.

ANALYSIS
Although ACLU policy cites the Supreme Court's decision in U.S. v. Miller as support for our position on the Second Amendment, our policy was never dependent on Miller. Rather, like all ACLU policies, it reflects the ACLU's own understanding of the Constitution and civil liberties.

Heller takes a different approach than the ACLU has advocated. At the same time, it leaves many unresolved questions, including what firearms are protected by the Second Amendment, what regulations (short of an outright ban) may be upheld, and how that determination will be made.

Those questions will, presumably, be answered over time.

In Miller it is clear that SCOTUS intended to protect arms that have "reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well regulated militia."

And the militia "comprised all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense. 'A body of citizens enrolled for military discipline.' And further, that ordinarily when called for service these men were expected to appear bearing arms supplied by themselves and of the kind in common use at the time."  Nowhere does Miller say that a person must be enrolled in, active in, or trained by the militia.

Actually, we are guaranteed the freedom from religion as well as of religion..."Congress shall make no laws respecting the establishment of a religion or preventing the free excercise thereof".

Until someone establishes gun ownership as a "right of expression" under the First Amendment...such a right as burning the American flag holds...then the Second will continue to be overlooked.

The ACLU IS NOT INTERESTED in folks the MEDIA can't potray as defenseless. As soon as guns are stripped (in their vision) we will need them for our champions...it's all so sick!
