I'd like to make a 20ga shotgun barrel into a 20ga ML.
I'm sure it's been done but haven't seen any info on it.
I would think that blackpowder pressure ( normal loads )
would not be a problem.
Starting from scratch , what type primer should I build
it to handle ? 209, #11 , large rifle , musket
?
I would think 209 the right choice.
I have a 20ga barrel I was going to use as a stub project.
Outside looks OK. Bore looks great. But chamber is pitted.
And it was too tight to fit unaltered on my SB2 frame.
Factory 12ga ML barrels seem scarce.
I'd have to make the threaded plug long enough to reach
the forcing cone and drill maybe a 3/8" or 1/2" hole
from the main charge to the nipple to keep the shot or
patched ball from getting hung up behind the forcing cone.
Any suggestions or first hand experience would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks
