Scoping a 20ga Pardner
« on: January 06, 2013, 06:17:58 AM »
Has anyone done this and what are your thoughts about it. I use mine for mostly squirrel hunting but will run into hogs fairly regularly and like to use a slug. Slug accuracy is so so for me, sometimes right on or miss by a mile,  I think its usually my lack of ability to aim with a single bead. Also I think a scope would help pick out the squirrels better than these old eyes.
For those that have done it could you elaborate on your set ups, (mounts, rings, scopes). And lastly having never had  any gunsmith work done what would be considered a reasonable price to pay for drilling and tapping? Thanks for any info you can provide.

Depending upon your locale, $45-$60 should cover drilling/tapping barrel by a gunsmith (3 holes).  I suggest you consider a using a red-dot sight for your applications.

had my 20 ga. Pardner barrel drilled and tapped about $60. With a decent scope 1-4 variable I can shoot touching holes all day at 50 yds, and not far off that spot at 75 yds. using plain Rem sluggers too.  I really like this setup too, real handi like! Has a youth stock which makes it lighter but I don't mind the little recoil it has and its handi. Joe

I made a shorty out of 1 of my 20 ga shotty's and kept one the original length. I drilled and tapped both guns myself, mounted a standard handi scope rail on both and topped them off with 2x20 bantams. Accuracy was best with federal tru-ball slugs approx 3"groups  at 75 yards.

Left it as is the idea was to use as a truck gun to shoot slugs, and buckshot I live in north Fla. and see a lot of wild hogs on the road (I live way out in the country).
