Hi, I have picked up a brass frame lever gun and the reciever is heavy with tarnish. What is the best and easiest way to clean it up? I want it bright if possible. Any tricks of the trade are appreciated. Thanks, gary

Brasso brass polish works fine for those Italian lever-action receivers. Try not to get any on the blued parts. Brasso contains a mild abrasive.

Firing black powder loads is usually what heavily tarnishes brass receivers. The Sulfur dioxides react with the brass to darken it.

I also like to spray Krylon Clear Finish on the receiver to give you longer-lasting protection from fingerprints, firing residue, etc.

I agree with traveler Ive got a pietta 44 brass frame and use brasso but like he said carefull around the blued areas

Get some FLitz polish. I haven't seen anything that puts a shine on brass like that stuff will. It doesn't smell as bad as Brasso either.
