Ahhh, Monday again.
« on: February 17, 2013, 10:17:20 PM »
Have you noticed it comes around pretty often, & like my morning coffee I look forward to it.  :o since I'm retired now I loaded the wife up & drove up to Atlanta last Thursday. My wife is having some trouble wrapping her head around the idea that our schedule is our own now.  ;) she wants her lists and such while I'm free as a bird.

It was a long weekend & the kids & Grandkids are off work & school and a old friend was traveling to Atlanta for a workshop and so I called my neighbor a half mile down the road, and asked him to keep a eye on the place and here we are in Atlanta. We took our old friend out last night to the OK Cafe for some local flavor. And enjoyed a evening of food & fellowship.

Say I haven't seen my sister in a while so maybe I'll drive over to Columbus on the way home & visit her. Did I say I'm liking this retirement thing. Well I am.

Here's hopeing you week brings you joy & prosperity and you have the sence to recognize your blessings. And be thankful.

Good man! Am very glad you are enjoying retirement, and that you are using it well. Good for you!

My wife and I are headed for retirement too, and she just doesn't seem to get it either. I'm going to have to drag her into it kicking and screaming, I think.

I've been retired for more than 10 years and I can't remember how I ever found time for work.  It used to bother me when I had projects that needed to be finished and play time always had to wait until everything was finished and tidied up.  It has become much easier these days to play first and get other stuff done when I get spare time.

Yup, it's Monday again and I should do a few chores and at least do something with the latest woodworking project that is sitting out in the shop, but I know for sure if the weather is half way decent I'll probably go bike riding.  Tomorrow we're off on a little road trip and a stay at a resort.

Glad you are enjoying your retirement, Pastrop. I got a chance to get out of the rat race in April of 1996 and took it. It's wonderful not having to plan around work.

My wife still works to keep me in the lifestyle that I have been accustomed to. but we do find time for the occasional road trip and life is good. Thanks for the post pastorp

Good for you Byron.  I'm glad you finally did.  Patty is one of those pre-retirement mentality folks too.  Now she has three secretaries to do her work and all she's got to do is check it.   She still can't find time to do much more of the things she likes.  I'm hoping things will improve this Summer.  I've got an urge for a new camper, and I want to use it.

While you're in Atlanta, you ought to look up Richard Elliott, AtlLaw.  However.....Don't let him get you involved in his shim manufacturing process.  As a retired man-of-the-cloth, you probably will disapprove. ::)   On the other hand, I've taken a few pointers from him ::) For some reason, I forget exactly what they were ??? ???

I've been retired for over 10 years, and I too wonder how I ever had time to work.  I do a lot of the cooking, laundry, dishes, honey dos, shopping, etc. plus taking care of the farm critters, dogs, chores, fences, etc., etc. Patty still works.  But, I still don't have the time I want to shoot a particular rifle out to 300 or build a plinking load to 30.

I just want you to know that your sense of Humanity, Fair Play, Honesty and Objectiveness has reached far beyond your pulpit. You're a man of integrity....a beacon in a world of corruption and dishonesty.  I, for one, honor you.  Enjoy your new life. your family and your Honey most of all....she's been there with you.

Gonna have to make him change his handle from PastorP to Pasture-P.....as in out to.  ;D

I look forward to retirement and Monday's.....another 20 years provided the libs don't find a way to keep me at my oar longer so I can help row the ship full of dead weight toward the shores of entitlement.  :o

Thanks for all the great comments.  ;) the Dems want me to believe I'm living off entitlements but since I've paid into retirement for 51 years I don't believe there giving me anything. I started officially working when I turned 16. Unofically my dad made me work younger that that.

Well I appreciate the work ethics I was taught by parents that lived through the Great Depression. And am thankful for Gods provision, for after all all our blessings come from him.

Blessings,

Blessings,

Darn right!  You EARNED your pension.  My folks came thru the depression too and taught us kids to save (my dad has jars of rusty and bent nails in the garage, "in case he needs them someday")  Unfortunately the mindset has shifted and many now wonder why the government isn't doing anything about (insert rant, whine or self-centric issue here).

And these jackasses who keep calling Medicare an entitlement program apparently have no inkling how the program works.  Medicare is a MANDATORY program, you are required to sign up within 90 days of your 65th birthday or face penalties (monetary) when you finally do comply.  Warren Buffet is a Medicare beneficiary, even though he likely never uses the benefits.

Entitlement.....like hell.

I feel better now!  God Bless ya Pasture P!!!

Sounds great. I am looking at retiring after the end of the next school year. The more I think about it the better it sounds. I would have just turned 59.

Those maynaise jars full of bent nails bring back old memories. My dad would save all the lumber from houses he remodeled and I had to pull the nails and sort them for size, as I straightened them. Then I stacked the lumber by size as well.

I've mixed plenty of "custom" colors for paint by mixing enough different colors to complete the job. Yeah those guys that lived trough the Great Depression knew how to make do.  ;)
