Ruger blackhawk transfer bar problem
« on: January 13, 2013, 04:36:34 PM »
Well I took my new model black hawk in 41 mag to the range today...only got through 8 shots as the transfer bar started to get "stuck" on the firing pin when moving up as the hammer was being cocked. Is this common and can it be easily cured? If not I guess it goes back to the factory.

If it's new, send it back.
If it's not , get some penetrating oil into the gun near the base of the hammer and transfer bar. There's a little spring loaded plunger hidden down in there that can get gummed up and not do it's job.
In the 1920's "sheeple" was a term coined by the National Socialist Party in Germany to describe people that would not vote for Hitler. In the 1930's they held Hitler as the only one that would bring pride back to Germany and bring the budget and economy back.....

Pull your cylinder pin and work some oil into the plunger on the hammer end. That holds the transfer bar out and allows it to move up and over the firing pin. If it's sticky or weak the transfer bar will hit the firing pin and stop. If it's to weak send it back to Ruger for a new cylinder pin, or buy a better one from Belt Mountain.

Yup!  That little plunger is in the end of the cylinder pin and is there only to keep the T bar from catching on the firing pin.  I'd bet your cylinder pin just slid out a bit.  Make sure it is in all the way.  (I had the same thing happen to me once.) :)  44 Man

Figure I will give you guys an update. The problem was a belt mountain cylinder pin. It is the knurled locking model. It was slightly oversized and would not seat completely in. Switched it out with a stock ruger cylinder pin and all is well. Thanks everybody.
