Check with surplusrifle.com I believe Jamie can help you out with bolt strip-down.

You need to support the bolt from underneath with the little square end of the firing pin retaining pin down with a space to move out into. I like to use wood it won't hurt the bolt. If you have a hole drilled into the wood for the pin to move into when you drive it out thats better too. You have to drive it out from the small round end. Some of these I have found to be really tight.  But they wil come out.                   BigBill

Some will just wash this bolt and try to clean it without taking the firing pin out that is a big mistake.  There is a lot of crud inside the bolt that can cause slam fires by making the firing pin not float and stick. No matter what military gun we own wether its a semi-auto or a bolt action we must clean the firing pin and the firing pin bore really clean so the gun will function correctly and safely too. On a bolt action the firing pin can stick making the gun so it won't fire that can be a mistake if your hunting with it and have the shot of a lifetime. So clean that firing pin and be safe!!!!

I'd also like to add that you should be careful when your tapping the firing pin stop back into place.  Make sure you tap it above the pin not on the little tab that is sticking out, it could break.

Don't ask me how I know  :(

Thanks guys I got it out, cleaned and back in.
I used 2 pices of wood, with space in the middle for it to move out.  It was very hard to remove.
On reassembly of the rifle, I used another pice of wood below the action to install the trigger group, any one else have to push REALLY hard to get it in???
This is turnign out to be quit a fun gun, has very little if any wear in barrel.

By the way, if you have never had a semiauto rifle with gas ports, quit trying to clean that little mark out of the bore that happens to line up with the port after further inspection

Litman252  There is a lot of guys who look down on sks's but you just don't know until you shoot one!!!!!!  They are a fun little plinker/shooter too!!                                                                 BigBill

The only thing with the gas port is to make sure it is open and not carboned up.  If the gun came with a tool kit it will have the gas port cleaning tool in it.   With the gas piston/tube assembly removed the gas port is on an angle down from the tube hole into the barrel.  If no tool is available a nail will do too to clean the port into the barrel.  If an sks tool kit is available from another brand of sks we must becareful because some of these gas ports are different diameters too it may not fit all brands of sks's.  I noticed this on my Yugo M59 the port is smaller when compared to my chinese sks's.
