Need the screw size/type
« on: February 23, 2013, 02:07:54 PM »
I recently ordered two H&R hammer extension. When I went to mount it on the hammer, I noticed it didn't have a set screw. Guess they were separate in the package and are now lost. :-[ Does anyone have the screw size and type I'd need to get from the local screw/bolt/nut/fastner shop?

BTW. Since I'm going there. Could someone kindly post the thumb screw size so I can get a couple while I'm there.

Do appreciate it all.

Just pulled one out and looked at it, can't measure it, but my bet is that it is a 4-40, should not cost you more than about $1.00 to see if I am right.  Larry

From the FAQs...

The hammer extension set screw is an 8-32 socket head that takes a 5/64" or 1/16" allen wrench, depends on when the extension was made.
