What does this stock fit?
« on: February 25, 2013, 02:08:45 PM »
A few months back I bought a youth straight stock that looks exactly like a youth straight H&R stock.  Recoil pad's the same, stock bolt hole is the same and it will fit a H&R receiver.  Problem is the bottom is oval shape while the Handi is semi-flat.  The receiver corners stick out past the stock on the youth stock (top).  Anyone know what brand gun it came off of?   The H&R stock is on the bottom.

I should note the stock has a factory pallet wood like finish, and it's not been altered.

Can you show a side view?
I have more guns than I need, but not as many as I want.

Looks like an H&R recoil pad. Maybe it came from an old Topper.

I remember seeing an old shotgun that had an angled receiver like that...  but I could tell you the brand...

but it was OLD.

It has me baffled.  I have a couple 100+ year old shotguns and nothing looks like this one, and it's modern.  My guess is this stock is not more than 10 years old, probable more like 5.  It's the oval shaped receiver impression that I can't figure out.  Everything I've seen has at least one flatish side.

The stock in question appears to have been used on a different frame, possibly on another make or vintage frame, it looks like there are faint impressions outside the round impression that are more consistent with an H&R frame.

Tim you are correct.  I didn't realize it wasn't a H&R stock until I put it on a receiver.  It was very close to fitting so I tried it a couple others.    The oval indention was made by receiver it came of off.

Prolly just a difference in frame castings, from the pics in the FAQs they do vary some on the cast iron frames.  ;)
