I always assumed they could be armed, considering some of the people they have to deal with.

I would have no problem at all with them carrying. As long as they have a permit to carry and training. As far as that goes, I have no problem with Fire dept and the like also carrying. I know of a small town where all of them carry with permits. Dont know if their policy allows it or not, but I see no issue with it.

I would think they could and would carry here in Texas. We have concealed carry here no one needs to know unless they need it and then who cares.
 
 
OK here is the dilemma, one is carrying and shoots a perp threatening his life, but does not kill him. Is he obligated to treat him, knowing that the wounded person will most likely testify against him.

 That would be a delima I would deal with if it arose. But since I felt the need to neutralize the perp, I would have to sit and ponder a moment ;)

I think too that it would be best for them to carry concealed. Unlike a police officer they would have much more close contact time with the person when treating them thus more chance for the person to possibly grab the medics gun.
