Military Spending Cuts
« on: March 12, 2013, 08:07:28 AM »
I don't claim to be up on all the military terms so forgive me if I post something here that doesn't sound right to you old military vets.

My sister called last night from MD to talk awhile.
During our conversation, she told me that my great niece, who just this past year married and has a new son, had moved somewhere out in the mid west to be with her husband who last year signed on with the military for three years.
They bought a small house and she found a part time job.
All good so far until the bad news hit.
Thanks to the BS from our government and THE LIAR IN THE WHITEHOUSE the military just issued him a furlough because of the spending cuts.
Now I am not really sure just what all this curtails but I am sure it won't be good for them.
I assume this means he is basically laid off from the military.
Does that mean he will receive no pay, part pay?
What about their house payment?
Will that be deferred until the military takes him back?
Is he free to go out and find another job, if he can?
I understand about the cut backs and saving money and all but to lay our military personal off to accomplish it is a poor way to do it!
What a mess our government has made of our country!!!

Should be eligible for unemployment.  I retired from military.  When I first joined my uncle told never to buy a house while I was in the military.  He said I could be shipped out anytime, anywhere.  He was also retired from military.  The military is to kill and destroy the enemy.

The military was already in the midst of cutbacks before the "sequester", and their cuts were twice what other's were.  They are eliminating several divisions I believe.

I'm not sure anyone is fully informed as to what all this means, but my sil is active, so he will have some idea.
