Cheap 358 Hoosier
« on: March 07, 2013, 04:48:45 AM »
Just thought I would share. 4d will rechamber your handi barrels to the Hoosier for $99 plus shipping. Cheap way to get into a wildcat.

Great if you have an older .357 Mag SB2 or get an accessory barrel for your SB2, but H&R's newer .357 Mag Handi's are all SB1 frames even though the barrels might say SB2.  So know what you have before you create a potentially dangerous situation with this rechamber.

Exactly why I didn't give specifics. Don't want someone blowing themselves up.

I saw the .358 Hoosier in the flesh for the first time at a gunshow last Sat. It looks really impressive and so are the ballistics.

The 358 Hoosier I got for 594.00 was built on a savage axis with a stainless barrel...

That's some good info. Is the Hoosier chamber still short enough to chamber to a standard 358/356 later on? I don't want to be left with no options if the law is changed or I decide to hunt with it elsewhere.

Thanks, Dinny

Dinny, the Hoosier should be cleaned up by the 358 chamber if that is what you want later.

That gives alot of food for thought.

Thanks, Dinny

Does that price include modification of the existing .357 Mag extractor?

Thanks, Dinny

I didn't ask about extractor work. Thought I would buy one from gun parts for a 308. Sure be fine like that. This is what I did when I rechambered to 35 Remington.
