Half Inch Groups with Military Brass. I can do this.

Well, I zeroed my SECOND Remington 700 Tactical 223 this afternoon. Came into zero at 50yds on the second shot. 3 shot groups at 100yds are 1/2" to 1 1/2" depending on me. This is across a SUV hood, so I think it'll shoot very well off a bench, and with MORE EXPENSIVE AMMO. I was shootin 55 grain bulk bought bullets loaded into once fired military brass with 748 Winchester powder. This'll work I think.

My first group with mixed mil. brass and Varmint Nite Mare 55 gr. bullets was .690 shoot from a card table and through my AR. I udes to shoot group l .500 and under through my old .270 with resized mil. 06 brass. It will do it. If your wanting the tightest groups you can get, prep your brass and then sort it by weight.

I used to do all that, and then some Catfish. Now a days, I call a few coyotes, and kill a few hogs. It's close enough for 300 yards, so that's work for me, and that's about all it'll do anyway with me shootin it.

ive had some good luck with ball bullets in some guns. Some not so much. One thing that seems pretty consistant though is that you will occasionaly get a flyer. It probably would be cured if I wasnt so lazy and weighted and seperated by weight all those bullets.

I agree Lloyd. I used to pour over those stats, and manuels, and scales, and case length gauges, and on and on. Now, I just don't care. I found that unless your shootin matches, all that is a waste of time.
I enjoy gettin the tight groups, and I know how to get them, but I don't want to take the time any more. It's like the guitar. I enjoy playin at home by myself, more than for people now a days.

It just wouldnt make much sense to go through all that work and expense just to run them in an ar thats purpose is either to roll beer cans or shoot targets the size of a man at a 100 yards.

Nope! I used to use military 3006 brass for 3006, & 25-06, and 765 for 308, and have been usin 5.56 for .223 for years. The recent hype on the later made me look but the concept was the same. Simply adjust accordingly.
