marlin 336 value
« on: June 10, 2013, 01:49:40 AM »
I have a guy wanting to trade me a marlin 336 30-30.  I dont think it is worth as much as he does, so I wanted to get some opinions.  The serial number prefix is 17xxx, that should make it a true Marlin manufacured in 1983, correct?  I would rate its condition in good, but not very good.   It has typical handling wear and marks, but still funtions 100%.  It has some type of peep sight on the rear.  Just a rough estimate, how much is it worth?

Rough guess, based on condition and model, about $275 to $350, condition being the deciding factor.  There are a ton of these rifles in the used gun racks here in the North East.

Personal opinion is a good thing, and everyone is entitled to one.  The hard part is separating informed opinion from someone who is just blowing hot air....

I agree. That number will differ in different parts of the country. But here in the North East. As a standard M336 its  a 3-350$ gun. (As long as you have model correct) If its a "W" gun less a if a "A" or DLX grade more. (I think they still made those in '83)

Its advertised as a 336cs.  I haven't physically seen it yet to confirm numbers, but I believe those are fairly common.
