Marlin 39a
« on: January 25, 2013, 02:16:47 PM »
Has anyone mounted the skinner sight on their Marlin 39a?  I'd like to mount one on a 39a golden trigger, pre-lock.  I do not want to change the front sight.  What's your experience?

Thanks,
HGunner

Hello HGunner...

There have been hundreds of Skinner Sights mounted on the 39's.  Front sight heights vary.  Please read our FAQ page at www.skinnersights.com for the reasoning of "why" they vary.

Generally a front sight .050 - .100" taller is needed however many customers report success with the factory front sight.

Hope that helps,

Andy,
I have an early Mod 30 w/octagon bbl that I would love to put a skinner on but only see one tapped hole on the receiver.  From what I see on the site you need 2 tapped holes.  I don't want to do anything to the gun that might effect the value.
Any help would be appreciated
Dalv

Hello Dalv,

That "single hole" on top of your receiver is the screw that holds the Cartridge guide just in front of the chamber.  Those can be difficult to re-install so we recommend not removing it.

Check out our BARREL MOUNT at www.skinnersights.com   That is our best recommendation, requires no alterations to your rifle and works great.

Hope that helps,
