Cryin' in My Beer!
« on: March 16, 2004, 01:09:45 AM »
Howdy,
Findin a place to "Pi$$ & Moan" around here ain't easy. If Holiday let's me I'll just cry in my beer.  :(

Here's one to watch out for!
 N C Ordnance
I ordered 2 pair of their "Classic® Ivory-Like" C76 Ruger Bisley checkered grips.  "Classic® Ivory-Like" Neither were in any way fitted per their web site "FIT:  We have done everything possible to make “CLASSIC” grips fit." "FIT".
I was able to fit them with some difficulty. One pair was poorly made, the mould didn't fill when poured. It should not have passed their quality control. After making the fit, I was installing them and they were so thin the screw protruded out the escutcheon nut. To make a long story short one escutcheon pulled through. The screw never was did snug up. I returned the pair for replacement per their "All N. C. Ordnance Co. items are 100 % Guaranteed to your satisfaction!" Guess what they were sent back no explanation no nada! Below is a copy of the email I just sent Bill Harvey of NC Ordnance! BHARVEY@nc.rr.net.

March 16, 2004

To whom it may concern;

Please refer my order # 6080 of february 28, 2004.

Yesterday 3-15-2004,  I received the same set of "C 76 Ruger Bisley" grips I had returned 3-8-2004 for replacement per your guarantee.
"All N. C. Ordnance Co. items are 100 % Guaranteed to your satisfaction!"
I believe I am due an explanation! It is quite obvious the grips slipped through your quality control. Because of that they failed as I was installing them. Please send another pair, what I have now are unusable! Perhaps if you had made even the slightest effort to- "FIT:  We have done everything possible to make “CLASSIC” grips fit." The only "fitting" was done by me! If you had taken the time to examine this set you would have seen the right panel did not fill the mould when it was poured and have found the escutcheon whole was drilled to deep. The end result was a poorly made panel!
At this point you have failed your mission. "OUR MISSION: To give superior products and unmatched service that still impresses even our oldest customers." I may not be an "Old Customer" and at this point I may not be a future customer unless this is made right!
Sincerely,
My Name  (you know me as D R Greysun)

Apparently their 100% Satifaction Guarantee is about as good as their claim to fitting grips!  :mad:

Well, D R, if you're buyin', I'll cry with ya.  Most of the grip makers I've seen, have a little small print blurb way down on the back of the instructions disclaiming overitghtening failures.  That way all the bad ones are made to look like your fault, and they are not responsible.

Well ButlerFord,
That may be but out here in gawd's country it ain't aloud. I reckon my banker will look on it as fraud. A little thing called "Charge Reversal" will even thing up a bit. Best thing to do is pass the word 'bout such places!

Yup, I feel yer pain!  :cry:  I have a set of Ruger stainless vaqueros with the factory synthetic ivory. Now these are nice stocks. The company that makes them  for Ruger(I forget the name) charges about fifty to sixty bucks for them, and is a reputable company. I took my grips and had Rus E. Hound engrave them, and are they beautiful! Now the bad part. I was pulling them off Sunday to clean the pistols and noticed one panel had the nut was pulling through and had cracked the grip. On closer inspection I notices the grips had shrunk some and didn't fit as well as when they were new. And after all that work!!

Yep, ol' Russ sure does fine work! He was at Ambush last year. We kept him busy! I've had several compliments on the grips for my Ruger. I'm gonna haveto repair the inside of the one panel that has started breaking, but I believe it will be a simple repair. I believe Russ will be at Ambush next year. If so, I think I may get him todosome work on my rifle stock.

Holiday,

I've been told 2 part epoxy will do the job.

With regard to Mr. Bill of NC Ordnance;

For those that would like to drop Mr. Harvey a personal note or perhaps stop by for a visit.  :D
