I wouldn't put a taper in the firing pin hole.
Michael

I keep forgetting to respond to this.  If you make a firing device like this and you have a firing pin going through a hole like this the hole must be tapered.  If you don't you will find the the pin breaks all the time from the binding upon impact and firing.

I hate to tell you guys but Middletown is not upstate New York.  I have to drive 5 hrs south to get to Middletown and I’m still in NY.

Nicely said Rickk Anything outside the City limits could be reffered as upstate or downstate... Just wondering Cu Cannon how far in New York State do you need to drive  in order to reach City Hall to shake the Mayors Hand... :) :)

Douglas,
This is one of my favorite builds. Many members here have interest in different types of artillery and its fun to read their stories, builds, etc. Both ML and blank cartridge signal cannons with 8 to 16 inch length barrels are my favorite. These cannons are the ones that have kept my interest in model artillery over the years. I would love to build one like this, but instead of a straight taper profile it on a CNC lathe. Hummmm...................... 8)
