Fair price on a Stevens 200 combo?
« on: February 15, 2014, 11:08:10 PM »
I was at a LGS and ran across a new Stevens 200 with a 3-9x40 scope in 223.  They are asking $400 for it.  Is that a fair price for new?  Only thing I can find local to compare with is an Axis combo, which I understand is more cheaply made.

Comments and opinions welcomed.

Well, I know that in the recent past the going rate for a stevens 200 (gun only) was about $300.  So unless the scope is nice, $400 may be a little high.  However......  since they no longer offer the stevens 200, the package price of $400 may be ok if the scope is Ok or decent.
I really like the 200 over the new Axis.

I own both the Stevens 200 and the Savage Axis. I much prefer the 200. Accuracy of both is excellent. Fit and feel of the two is a whole different ballgame and the Axis has little mechanical quirks that annoy me..
