Somebody give me the low down on the Huntsman

Getting ready to pick one up.  Looks new but is older. Now, does it come w/ no. 11 nipple?

Depends on when it was made and if it's been converted to 209 or musket nipple, anything made by H&R1871 or NEF will likely have a screw in breech plug for a 209 primer I believe, H&R Inc Huntsmans had a #11 nipple, although I don't know if they all did, you can tell by looking at the breech plug.

Most of these old posts are at least a few years old describing the breech. I contacted the metrics company and they still make breech's. $35 shipped. 5/8 and 7/8 both. I wonder how I will know which one I would need if it hasn't been converted.  I am sure it hasn't. Just measure it? Any way it could be the push in type? Thanks Tim.

Hey, if there is some other over the counter breech plug  that will work, let me know. I shoot musket caps in mine. Do they have one for this dude?

I modified a standard 7/8" breech plug to accept a musket nipple, also made the modern barrel Washington legal.  I think Ben Hubbard makes musket nipple plugs, but don't remember for sure, you'd have to call him to find out, see the original stickys link above for his number, he doesn't have a website any more, he's been building me a ramrod since last year sometime, said he'd send it when he finishes it!  ;D
