Anyone going to Albany Feb.28th to protest?
« on: February 15, 2013, 09:30:05 AM »
Is anyone going to Albany Feb.28th to protest?
WILL IT DO ANY GOOD??
Seems like[as usual] the New York City leftists/Democrats still have the majority vote.
I hope everyone remembers this, when those legislators[and Cuomo] come up for re-election.

Hans:  this one is going to be bigger than the others and yes, people listen.  The last time there were 75 from the opposing group, the million moms group, who got the priveledge of the warmth and comfort of the inside staircase in the south mall while the veterans and 2nd Amendment followers, who numbered near 3,000 stood outside.  It is amazing to listen to who reports on this and that because as the day got longer, the 75 on the inside morphed to almost 100 (depending on the reporter) while the outside group shrank desperately from around 3,000 to near 1,000, depending on the reporter.

I think this coming rally has been well enough advertized to give us a really good showing.  Idiots like carl palodino we do not need but busloads of vets and gun owners coming in from all over the state would be very, very welcomed.  And yes, I'm going.

I will be there, the more the better.

I saw on news article they claimed 100 inside and 500 out side. They got so used to wasting our tax dollars it is no wounder 3000 only looks like 500 to them.

On the way home from the last rally I stopped at a gun store, there were 18 or 20 people there all complaining about NYSAFE and how they got screwed. I asked who was at the rally, every one had some weak excuse why they had not gone. Then the store owner informed me that some people have a life on weekends and can,t hang out in Albany. I had picked up some powder bullets and he was getting me some primers. I just set it all on the counter and walked out.

Yes please come and show your support,it may change the rest of your life as far as gun ownership goes.

EDIT:  Never mind; I found it.  Hope to see you there...!

Yes, I'll be there again. I have little hope for legislative change but the rat - weasels in Albany need to know the People are against them.

State police estimated 12,000 dont believe the lib media saying 4 to 5 thousand.  We were heard, but more voices are needed.

Bubba:  What a great rally, eh?  Loud but peaceful - cops didn't bother anyone but since kwomo knew it was coming he scheduled himself ouot of town that day and also ordered OGS to close the visitor parking lots under the south mall to make it tough for people to find places to park.  What a pos he is.

Kwomo stepped on it this time and got burned for it.  This greasy mussolini wanna-be will never see the white house except as a visitor.  Nobody in this nation that I can think of would want such a reactionary, emotional little boy in the white house with the capability to push the button if he got nervous. You heard how badly he was pilliored (? sp) at that rally.  I'm hoping his ratings drop ecven more and this will be his only term.  His message of necessity was based on a false premise and I think that will come out in the first lawsuit.  Interesting is that he used this to prevent mass purchases of those things he wanted banned (I don't think you can legally do that, ya know...) and that he also used a message of necessity to get the gay marriage law through - now what on earth could be so danged emergent about gay marriages that he had to use a message of necessity.  But, a Queensbury State Supreme Court Justice has just issued a injunction against the law and given him (silver, skelos and klein) until 3/11 to prove why he used the 'message of necessity' as a basis for the law and why he violated procedural requirements to sign it.  And this is before both the State Rifle and Pistol Assn or the NRA could file their suits. As for lawsuits, I think the best is yet to come.  He will never repeal a law he authored but it can easily be enjoined  from being enacted.  Same effect.  The next guy can repeal it.

There was even a rumor going around, and I love this one, that both hobama and hillary called kwomo before he signed the law and urged him to be the first in the nation to bring forward the type of gun laws necessary to make the nation safer - I got such a laugh out of that one, even though it might be true because kwomo is far too immature and reactionary to even think that either might throw him under the bus like that.  And, of course, since hobama owes hillary for backing off the presidential campaign back in 08 and as he might yet be willing to give it back to her in 16 if she decides to run, kid kwomo won't stand a chance if she runs for the white house....  Things could turn out quite alright....

yes it was peaceful.  I loved the horse mounted police waiting to push us around.  They never moved from the front of the building as there was no need to.  My only bad thing was i expect it will cost 2 mill in state grass seed to fix the park lol.   It was sad eh had to boogie out of town.  Maybe just as well.  My senator and personal friend Patty Ritchie briefly spoke. I hope more get involved as this was just a beginning

Bubba:  I understand that albany's mounted finest were simply instructed to stay put.  They were told right up front that this was no 'Alive at Five' crowd and that it (the crowd) simply would not/could not be 'parted, intimidated or controlled' by mounted officers and the albany pd had no intention of losing either officers or their mounts.  There were enough cops working the crowd and they were easily spotted as they had to wear 'something' that identified them as leos whether they were in 'civilian attire' or not.  Although this rally was nice and peaceful there was a definite 'stand and fight' attitude there and I think it was of sufficient concern for the local pd that they sought to avoid confrontation.

I'm hoping the next one will be as well attended and as raucus (sp?).

Everyone who attended last time should bring a friend with them.  We need the numbers.  I am surprised about the lack of traffic on her regarding it.  We need more participation.  You can not sit back and let others do it all

OT - but have you ever seen a charge by mounted police? There would be no "standing your ground", believe me. As a kid I was in the UK during the miners strikes and witnessed a mounted charge against strikers in Sheffield. These were tough customers. They ran like schoolgirls and had the mounted police charged us under some bizarre circumstance, we too would have run .

I don't think the PD were at all afraid of us. There will have been some sympathy but mostly it was very clear that it was a well organized crowd intent on political expression and posed no threat to public safety.

I agree RPRNY.  There was no reason for them to have to move

RPRNY - yes, I have seen a charge, or at least a false start from mounted police and although horses are big critters, it ain't the horses you need to deal with - it is fairly easy to dismount a rider or falter his mount and anyone who thinks there might be trouble from mounted pd need only unwrap a short length of rope from around his middle or use a heavy leather strap, as in belt, to deal with it.  A spooked mount makes it easy for the rider to be dismounted.  One or two 'snaps' across the horse's butt from a leather strap/ belt will spook a mount - once the horse has reared up, the rider is off balance and a easy target.  Once dismounted, the horse doesn't go too far.  And, of course, if you are really worried about it then make up a bolo and you are good to go:  3 one half to one pound ball bearing and 3 four ft lengths of closeline if you want and then you have horsemeat on the ground - old native American trick ya know......

My late wife used to be part of a mounted search and rescue unit in the north country and grew up around horses.  She knew that even the most well trained mount is near schitzy and easily distracted, which makes it very tough for the rider and crowds are not friendly for a horse to face.

You might be right about the albany cops not fearing a 5-10 or 12,000 person crowd, they have been arrogant and stupid before, it is nothing new and they probably would not have had a 2nd thought about it unless they made the mistake of trying to move it.  I am sure that if they had started, they might have been able to go the full length of the park we were in but if they had turned to try it again they would have gone down, and gone down hard.  There were lots more there than the media said and I have no doubt our numbers were closer to the 10,000 mark than the media would like to admit but do not doubt for a moment that if the cops had made the mistake it would have turned bloody for both sides.  There were groups of dedicated men there who were ready to fight and a couple of mounted cops would not have swayed them at all.

I think the next rally will be even better and we need to bring along more than we brought before.  This isn't gonna stop just because we had a successful rally, we need to do it again and again and again.  And I'll chip in for the grassseed....

I was impressed with the crowd too. I wasn't able to get there until noon so when I showed up the crowd already had numbers.

I wouldn't worry about pitching in for the grass seed. Good ol' NY state makes sure everyone is pitching in.

That appeared to be a very good turnout thanks to all those that could make it. Now if only he gets the message which I don't think he care's to listen to.

I've lived in NY my entire life and I'm getting ready to retire at the end of this month. My wife and I were looking forward to living out the rest of our days here. With this law and that law which the urban NYC liberals have passed and the fact that the Republicans have caved to the NYC libs I've pretty much have had it here. My wife and I have put our house up for sale and will be relocating to Nevada where we found a place to live. If you think things are going to improve here I believe you are living in a dream world and that is the reality of the situation. You'll be lucky in another 5 years to posses a pellet gun in NY.
