Thoughts on the Survivor
« on: March 21, 2013, 11:13:39 PM »
I was wondering if any of you folks thought this too.  I'd like to see the survivor with options for the standard 22 inch, Talo 18.75 inch, and Superlight 20 inch barrels.  It seems to me the 22 inch bull barrel defeats the purpose of the rifle, and trashes balance.

Agreed.  Never could understand the concept of a "survival" rifle that is heavy and is dependent on an optical sight!

I had my 20 gauge 22" survivor barrel fitted for True Lock choke tubes. Also got a 20 gauge Tracker II slug barrel for it.
Both work well with the survivor stock.

Ben, that's a great idea.  I have a .22/.410 VP for my grandson.

Yah, I really wish I'd been buying guns when they offered those versa packs.  8(  I kick myself regularly for missing out on those.  I haven't been able to catch an unmodified barrel yet either.  I think a superlite taper is definitely a better way to go and a quick take down screw in the forend.  In my opinion a "survival" friendly gun is one that can be carried compactly and discreetly.  I love my Papoose and it's my .22 LR survival pack.  I did tone down the case by sewing a camoflage cover on it.  lol

I bought a small two compartment case for a paintball gun.  It will hold the receiver and stock, and both barrels for the VP, along with a small supply of ammo.  The survivor stock is an ideal platform for this, with first aid and fishing gear in the stock.

I also have a Papoose, and recently a 10-22.  I'm over survived....
