45LC in st charles mo & ammo
« on: March 22, 2013, 02:55:24 PM »
Stopped of at a small shop in st charles after work today to see if they had any ammo & if/what handi's they may have.  They had some 243 in camo (adult & youth), a 308, 45-70 synthetic, & way in the back was a 45lc carbine with a nice checkered forend.  $319.99, I asked the guy if it had been there awhile.  He said yep been here 2 years.  And believe it or not they had 223 ammo, some hornady 40g v max, 55g winchesters, & I picked up a box of 45g remington hollow points for $21.  Grabbed a box of 25-06 90grains, & some 22 mag 30 grain v max.  They also had some 223 fmj.  I was really pretty impressed about what I found.  I was at cabelas on monday, not a box of 223 on the shelves (nor any handi rifles), kinda what I expected.  Any rate if anyone is looking for a 45lc in that area Nassau sporting goods has it on the rack.  I can post up there number if needed.  Just thought I would pass it along.  Often times the small places are the ones overlooked.

This post made me sick, I've been after a 45LC for about 6 months and can't find one at a reasonable price. I'm actually in Missouri rite now for training but since I don't have permanent orders or a MO liscense I can't buy one. Makes me sick to think about cause that's a great price

Bray, go buy it but have it shipped to an FFL in your area.

It doesn't hurt to ask. I bought a rifle while I was in BNCOC at FLW back in 2008 with just an Indiana driver's license. Don't know why you can't.

Thanks, Dinny

Do you have it shipped somewhere though dinny cause ironically I'm at FLW and have a IN liscense but I'm just TAD here

It rode shotgun with me all the way back to Illinois after I finished BNCOC. You could always talk to the shop owner. Have them hold it after you've paid for it, then ship it to your FFL. People in that area are patriotic and strong supporters of the troops. I'm sure they would understand your situation.

Thanks, Dinny

Are your orders for more than 30 days? If so, you should be fine with them and your IN drivers license to buy it and transport it back like I did. I would still have them hold it until you are driving back to IN. I didn't do that, but sweated every time I went through the main gate thinking that at anytime they could randomly search my vehicle. :-[

Thanks, Dinny

Well I'm not going back to Indiana I'm a marine an stationed in NC I'm just here for vehicle recovery course. My orders are for around 45 days, I'm planning on driving back to Indiana next weekend just for the weekend so if I could get it I would just leave it in my hotel room until then and take it home until I go on leave in may and bring it back to NC with me. But like ya said where there's a will there's a way so I'm gonna do everything I can to get it.

Are you sure about that?  Federal law allows the sale of long guns to non-residents in any state subject to the laws of that state and your home of resident state.  I've purchased long guns in Colorado as a non-resident and here in Oklahoma where I'm at, there is only 5-6 states Oklahoma won't sell a long gun to.

I just have them a call a few minutes ago when they opened. They informed me that MO gun dealers are only allowed to sell to non-residents from states that border Missouri, and that without PCS orders I could not purchase from them. So I geuss I'm just gonna have to keep on searching when I get back to NC. No big deal I geuss

I m kinda late to this conversation, But wanted to add something on this comment. Maybe you have already realized.

When you make a purchase like this you pay the person with the gun. Then you pay to ship it to your FFL. The only thing that you would pay to your FFL is a transfer fee if he has one WHEN you arrive to pick it up.  So of coarse he will ''hold'' the gun. Its yours, awaiting transfer to you.

Its a great little carbine (& caliber)everyone should have one or two! ;)

It's sold already.  I called using the number from Dinny and was told they no longer have it.  My plan was to buy it and then after Brayh92 returned, sell it to him for my cost as thanks for his service.....but, it got away.  Sorry!    :(   Gerald

There's a brand new 45LC on the rack at Orion Arms in Clarksville Indiana 812-288-5569, at least it was still there last week.  It's been there for a couple years, I think the tag is $399.  Typically they will haggle a little.  You can get it for the tag price at a minimum out the door.  Basically they reduce it the amount of the sales tax.

Brayh92,
You could cut across 265 from I64 to I65 on your way home to get this one. ;) they're right off the highway. I would bet they have more than one too.

Thanks, Dinny

Actually from I64 just take I65 north and it's about 5 miles to the exit.  The signs are kind of confusing from I64 to I65 so keep an eye out.  Orion is only 5 minutes or less from the exit, depending on how you catch the stoplights.  They only have the one.  Give'm a call if you want it, I bet they'll hold it for you.

I would note that if you're going through during rush hour Dinny's route is a better choice.  They call the junction of all the interstates in Louisville Spaghetti Junction for a reason, it's a mess and has been for 35+ years.

One last thing, the 10 miles north of the Ohio river on I65 is one of the most heavily patrolled areas in the southern half of Indiana.  Don't get over 60 (55 Limit) or you may regret it.
