I have seen diesels filled with gas some a half a tank or more. If you allow it to run and DON"T TURN OFF THE ENGINE IT WILL USE UP THE GAS . As the tank gets abut a 1/4 tank low just add more diesel. I have heard some suggest the engine will explode it won't/didn't . What happens is the gas will not give the power diesel fuel does and the gas may not lubricate as well which is why it's good to keep adding diesel . One thing is you need to drive it as just letting it idle will use little fuel.
Back to the OP was it the fuel guy could not read the language ?

Back in the 70s, road trip fm Austin to southern Ill... Dad inadvertently put diesel in our F-250, realized what was happened, stopped. Fired it up, ran rough... he shut it off, crawled underneath, loosed fuel lines and let a bunch run out into the dirt... filled up with unleaded and off we went.

Not the same thing. If you put Diesel into a Gasline engine it may not run but it won't damage it. The high compression of a Diesel engine will quasi detonate Gasoline and THAT is the death blow.

BS I did just that and dorve the truck over 75 thousand miles after doing so. Consider a diesel engine is built stronger than most gas engines and built to take higher compression . Gas will not cause to much pressure for one thing the BTU rating is lower for gas than diesel so it has less energy to start with.

For every Diesel engine that survived being fed Gasoline, how many didn't make it and ended up either scrapped or needing costly repairs like the Obamamobile.

I once filled my Datsun 280Z with diesel. I realized my mistake when I hung up the nozzle. I drove around the back of the station to an underground sump where I pulled a drain plug from the tank, dumped the diesel and refilled with gas, all was fine.

This entire story wreaks of BS. If they shipped the car with an empty tank, it would not have left the pump if they filled the car with gas. The GM system recirculates the fuel between the tank and the injector pump. If it started at all with a mostly gasoline fuel, it wouldn't have made it out of the station. If they topped the tank off with gas, it would have run just fine depending on just how much gas they put in it. WE don't get winterized diesel here and when it turns unusually cold here, you put super unlead in the tank to keep it from gelling. You can mix it easily to a 10% mixture and it runs great. While the car most apparently quit running, it wasn't due to a fuel mix up. Frankly, I can't believe the Secret Service would let the car out of the country unless it had a full fuel tank. The car MUST be ready to roll as soon as it gets to its destination. But then again, incompetency pretty much defines this president anyway.

     They had a show on the History channel Abt. Air force one and it stated that all the mfuel was inspected and varified B-4 it was ever allowed to go in, and I am sure that NO outside fuel would be bought for the BEAST, I also would have to call BS on this story.  Jim

well I doubt many , you can't compress gas enough in a diesel engine to cause conbustion. There fore there must be enough diesel fuel in the mix to casuse combustion. That would limit the amount of gas present . If by chance you got a 100% gas nothing would happen as there is no spark plug in a diesel engine.
