Man admits: I was 'Bigfoot'
Says famed footage depicts him in gorilla costume

Thirty-six years after the fact, Bob Heironimus' conscience finally caught up with him: He confessed to having donned a gorilla costume and appearing in the famous 1967 footage of Bigfoot.

1967 footage of alleged 'Bigfoot' creature

"It's time people knew it was a hoax," Heironimus told the Washington Post.

For decades, the grainy film clip has fueled study and speculation about the existence of a large mysterious creature in the Pacific Northwest.

"It's time to let this thing go," he told the paper. "I've been burdened with this for 36 years, seeing the film clip on TV numerous times. Somebody's making lots of money off this, except for me. But that's not the issue – the issue is that it's time to finally let people know the truth."

The Post reported Heironimus makes his official confession in a new book, "The Making of Bigfoot" by paranormal investigator Greg Long. The author says he spent four years investigating the 60-second film and the people behind it.

Long traced the Bigfoot costume to Philip Morris, a North Carolina gorilla suit specialist, who says he sold it for $435 to an amateur documentary maker named Roger Patterson (who died in 1972), according to the paper.

The hoax was staged near Bluff Creek in Northern California, according to Heironimus.

"Patterson was the cameraman," Long told the Post. "They made a gentleman's agreement that Bob would get in the suit and walk in front of the camera for $1,000."

Heironimus' story is a bit different.

"I was never paid a dime for that, no sir," he said, adding, "Sure I want to make some money. I feel that after 36 years I should get some of it."

The news doesn't change the view of an open-minded Jane Goodall, a well-known primatologist.

"She's spoken to people whom she respects who say they have seen one of these hominids," said Nona Gandelman, an aide to Goodall, according to the report. "And to many other people she respects who have heard strange calls they thought were made by Bigfoot. As a scientist, she has a very open mind about this and has yet to close the door on the possibility."

An associate of the deceased filmmaker is challenging the veracity of Heironimus' story. The Post says it was contacted by Tom Malone, a Minneapolis lawyer, working on behalf of Bob Gimlin, an associate of Patterson's.

"I'm authorized to tell you that nobody wore a gorilla suit or monkey suit and that Mr. Gimlin's position is that it's absolutely false and untrue," Malone told the paper.

Which sounds more made up, bigfoot or "Philip Morris" of North Carolina?

You decide. ;)

No contradiction there, there are several billion of these hominids on the planet.

Morris Costumes is located on Central Avenue in Charlotte, N.C.  They have been there for many years and supply costumes to stage and mivie productions.  If you doubt my word, have a telephone operator look up their number.....it is a 704 area code.

Jimmie Carter saw a flying saucer....some people respect him.

Hi Loader 3009 :D
I saw the story on the Jeff Rense Show. :-D  It was a bunch of baloney.  :)  His guest was Kal Korff, which try`s to debut everything on the planet. Including the birth of Christ. Is that someone you would want to take stock in?    Oh by the way Bob Heironimus, the guy that say`s he was in the monkey suit, was a ice cream salesman for Good Humor Icecream.
Now come on Loader, use your brain, which do you believe, a Good Humor Ice Cream saleman, that drove a Ice cream truck through the neighbor hood to get little kids money, or cold hard facts. Oh by the way, that suit that he wore, it looks nothing like the suit in the patterson film. The suit he says he wore, look`s like a bad sicfi-B movie costum. :-D  :-D
Oh and by the way, loader, before you put to much stock in the Jeff Rense Show, go to his site, and see what he produces. Show`s like ( I was a teenage vampire), (I was raped by a alien) etc. You get my drift.

One more thing least I forget Loader;
I wouldn`t knock Jimmy Carter, What other ex-president, do you know that has ever built houses for the homeless? He sounds pretty decent guy to me, one that I would be proud to have as a neighbor, Jimmy Carter that is, not Heironimus.

First this gorrilla costume sure makes its way around the country quickly.(Kidding)
What I have heard isn't human.  I haven't seen it yet but I'm sure i will soon. And I'm just waiting for one of these hoaxers to get shot too.  Like the cop on TV firing his 9mm in the dark in the woods when the rocks were flying at them.  If it was a hoaxer there sure would be a crap trail right?                                                                 BigBill

Hey, guys, the phone number for Morris Costumes is (704) 332-3304.  They are now located at 3108 Monroe Road, Charlotte, N.C. 28205.  If you are true "investigators" you will call them and acertain if they actually sold the costume to these people.

I only posted the article, I didn't write it.

As for Jimmy Carter, I met him once and have a picture to prove it.  In addition, I drank two PBR's with Billy at his service station.  Billy didn't have a very high opinion of Brother Jimmy.  I would tell you what Billy said about him but it would be censored. :-D

Gimlin's position is that it's absolutely false and untrue," Malone told the paper.

bullet maker, if you look real close, you can see the zipper that runs up the back of the suit.

Did you ever see any of the "Planet of the Apes" movies.  Even the earliest ones had excellent monkey suits.  This is grocery store tabloid bullwinkle, horsepucky, chickensquat.  It is fantasy.  Don't allow it to obsess your mind.

Now, were'possums are a horse of a different color.  Saw one of them last week.......right after that third hit on the crack pipe.
