Where is Global Warming and Spring
« on: April 08, 2013, 07:11:18 AM »
We got 2" of snow yesterday, and temps were in the single digits.  The wind did not help any either.  Weather man is reporting more on the way for the next three days.  Cold temps for the forseeable future.  Called my buddy last night, he is in Anchorage with his wife in hospital.  They got over two feet of snow yesterday with more coming.  He is driving a Toyota Matrix with all wheel drive.  He keeps high centering that little car.  Told him he should have driven his F-350, but the weather was warm and sunny when they left.  It was ten below this morning here in North Pole, the wife was grumpy, her car was left out overnight.  It was covered with snow and cold inside.

Our son had received a shipment of auto parts and had piled them in the middle of the garage floor.  Her solution, she started his truck with the remote auto start.  Once the truck was warmed up she took her bag and drove the warm truck to work.  Now, once he gets up, he has to figure out how to get a Hockey bag in a Mazda Miata, ain't gonna happen.  The bag is almost as big as the car.  He will most likely take my Jeep to the University.  Me, I'll just start the F-350 and head to the gym.  My heavy coat, and boots don't fit in the Miata either.  He's going to clean out the garage tonight.

A week ago we were running around without coats.  Temps were in the high 40s, even reached 50 one day.

We've got almost 15 hours of sun shine, where is the heat?  It's 8 April rivers whould be starting to show signs of movement, with small channels running by now.  Oh no everything is still frozen solid.  No openings in the ice.  Two guys I am running bear baits with tried to take more bait in this weekend.  Snowdrifts got too deep and hard.  We have to cross a mountain to get to the valley we are baiting in.  Winds were too strong, and ice was covering everything.  The tops of these low mountains should be dry by now, with gravel to drive on.

I was visiting my girls in anchorage a few years ago about this time of year. Dropped 32" of snow overnight & the next morning. Believe you me, nothing moved until the snow plows came around.  :o I was stuck.

Now they have issued a Winter Weather Warning for us last night, thru Wednesday.  Snow, with winds, and low temps down below zero at night, and into the single digits to the 20s during the day.

Looks pretty bad for the folks down in the Mid West too.  They are just as bad off as us it looks like.

If I remember right, the warmies did change their blather to "climate change."  Now they're right no matter what the weather does.

Well here it is 10th of April, and spent most of the day plowing snow.  More snow expected tonight and tomorrow.

Drove up the Haul Rd yesterday, up to the Yukon River.  Started snowing just after Livengood.  When I got to the Yukon I ate lunch then headed back.  The light snow I had been in turned heavy.  It snowed hard all the way back to Fairbanks.  At times I was down to 35mph, visibility was poor.  Caribou on the road just above Hess Creek, near the location we bait bears.  Tried Calling, had a Red Fox come in.  Red Fox season closed the 31st of March.  Had Coyotes howl, but none came in to the call.

Had a growth removed fom my shoulder first thing this morning.  Doctor gave me new meds.  They are really making me feel tired and sleepy.  Wife just came in screaming a Lynx is in the front yard.  I jumped up to go check it out.  Just caught a fleeting look as it went behind the shed.  The wife said she thought it was going to go after the Min Pin.  I keep telling her to take her pistol when she goes outside with the little dog.

Good night
