New England 243 Youth Model
« on: April 07, 2013, 03:55:29 PM »
I recently acquired a youth model 243 from a co-worker. After reading some of the sticky's I'm still confused with finding the date of manufacture and what type of reciever it is.

The serial number starts with NT32XXXX.

Am I correct this rifle was built in 2003?

Also what type reciever is it?

Thanks for any information you can give. I'm a little green to the Handi rifle.

Welcome!  Yep 2003.  It's a SB2 receiver.  Link below has pictures with the stock off showing how to identify the frames.  The other thing to look for is a factory fitted barrel will have the last 3 or 4 digits of the serial number stamped or engraved on the barrel lug.

Post a range report when you have a chance.  :)

Thanks for the info. I thought the date was right but wasn't sure.
A co-worker was tight for cash and offered to sell it for $150. That was to good of a deal to pass up.

My grandboys are learning to shoot and the oldest will surely get to use it in a couple years.

I don't think there is one of us here that would have passed up a deal like that...
