Thanks for posting the pics for me Steve, this is a female lion i shot out by Richfield Utah on 2/14/04.  I have some friends out there that take me hunting, we turned the hounds out on her track at 10:00am and after about 15 minutes we could hear them treeing, so we started our hike up the mountain, it probably took us 45 minutes to top out and get to the dogs.  The lion was out on a ledge behind a huge boulder, after some coaxing and pushing by my friends i got out on the ledge and looked around the boulder, the lion was about 8 feet away broadside.  I shot her behind the shoulder with my 22 mag and she jumped straight up about 6'.   She bailed off the ledge and the dogs bayed her up again about 75 yards away.   I tried to get another shot into her, but was unable to cause of the dogs around her.  I think she was 6'10" from the tip of her nose to the end of her tail.  That hunt was the most exciting hunt i have ever been on, i used my quota of adreanaline for the next five years.  anyway thanks for looking at the pics, and thanks again Steve for posting them.  Corey

Nice cat Corey, sounds like you were a little under gunned, most lion men dont want a wounded lion swatting and chomping thier hounds... Did you have back up????   Nothing like climbing those mnt heh !

Nice pussy cat!  8)  But I agree with the other guys, I wouldn't have been out on a ledge with just the 22mag!

Yea guys those mountains are tough, really tough when you used to the flat ground like i have here in Nebraska,  22 mag is what i was told to bring with me,  seemed to work ok,  next time i go i will probably take my .223 rifle, but it sure was nice to be able to stick that pistol in my pack and have both hands free to climb with.  fwiw  Corey
