Redfield Revolution 3-9x40mm Riflescope
« on: May 02, 2013, 03:51:20 PM »
Wanted to get some feed back on theRedfield 3x9x40. I just bought a Savage 220 slug gun and stumbled upon the Redfield.

I saw the Nikon Slug Scope but was not really interested in a BDC.

I have used Redfields in the past but then moved away from them. I saw that they are now made by Leoupold and warranty wise they are golden.

Does anyone have feed back....opinions... etc?

Just got a Revolution 3x9x40 with the long range reticle for one of my ARs.  It will see hundreds of rounds over the next several weeks.  I'll let you know how it does.

I have a Redfield 3-9X40 on my Ruger 1S in 45-70, it does very well. I will buy more when I can.

I have a Redfield Revenge 4x12 scope mounted on my trusty Rem 788 in 308. I had another scope on this rifle but wanted to try the Red.  Went to the range yesterday w/ other guns and other scopes, like the Swift Premier and a Chinese made Centerpoint scope 4x16 I think.
The Red's optics were amazingly clear. Only drawback is the crosshairs are very thick, almost twice the size of other scopes. Back several months ago when I first mounted it I didn't like it. But after yesterday I think thick crosshairs are not much of a drawback for big game. For ground squirrel and varmints a fine crosshair would be better. Like I said, the optics were way way better than the Swift and the Centerpoint. And the click adjustments actually do work. The Centerpoint adjustment just would not work. After several clicks the point of impacts didn't change at all. But w/ the Red you click one way and the holes go where you want. Go the other way and they follow. The Centerpoint and Swift you click away and no response.
I would get another Redfield, maybe not the Revenge but the Revolution, which I hear is made in the USA
