If it's a Remington and the serial number is 3 million to 3,607,999, it was made between November 1941 to December 1942. It will be marked as a 1903 rifle, not an 03A3. If it has an A in front of the serial number, it has a duplicate rifle somewhere in the world with the same number. The rifle was made by Remington using Rock Island equipment. The rifle was made for the British Lend Lease Program. The barrel, if military should have a corresponding date if original, which is rare. There were many different steels used to make these rifles as steel shortages were common during the time. Around here, with a decent but not exhibition grade wood stock will bring $300.00-$350.00. It may be worth more or less depending on demand in your area. Not many folks doing custom jobs on these anymore as the full military rifle is worth so much more money. Considering it has been drilled and tapped, converting it back to a military rifle is gone. But in my rusty old opinion, there's no better action to build a rifle from than the one you have. I think you have a fabulous rifle to build.
