Boyd's Stock / Forearm/ Need Screws
« on: April 17, 2013, 11:00:41 AM »
I traded for an stainless Encore with a 209x50 barrel on it and a separate 308 barrel. They came with a Boyds laminated thumbhole stock and 2 forearms, one for the ML and one for the rifle barrel. The ML is no problem. It's mounted and works fine. The 308 barrel and forearm are the problem. It did not come with any screws to mount the forearm to the barrel. I went to my local gunsmith and he didn't have any screws long enough to use. He sent me to a company called Fastenall  and they didn't carry them in the store, but could order them. The catch is I'd have to order 100 of each length. No thanks.

I called Boyd's and they don't have any screws either.

So, can somebody tell me where to find a couple of forearm screws for an Encore? The front one is shorter than the rear one. The factory screws on my other Encore Pro Hunter are the wrong length.

PLEASE SHARE WITH THE POSTER WHERE HE MAY BUY THESE SCREWS.  OFFERING THEM FOR SALE IS NOT ALLOWED ON A DISCUSSION FORUM.

Thanks.

Do you use a washer under the screw? They don't seem to come with washers.

Midway has them in stock from Stratton custom. Should be Midway #473744 at $5.49 for the pair.

Actually I meant between the head of the screw and the forearm. In this case, without one, it would be metal to wood contact. My factory forearm has flat washers under the head of the screw.
