New handy rifle in 22 Hornet and 30-30 Win
« on: May 02, 2013, 11:19:48 PM »
A couple months ago I found a new (made in Ilion NY) rifle in 22 hornet.  I had wanted one in that caliber for years so I bought it.  The trigger pull was terrible but the rifle shot really excellent groups in spite of the trigger.   A couple of weeks ago I sent it back to H&R to have the trigger adjusted and a new 30-30 Win barrel fit to the action.  The whole job took less time than they said it would and I got it back today.  The trigger now breaks crisply at 4 pounds and the new barrel will fill a want that I have had for about five years now.  When I had tried to order a 3030 barrel twice before from H&R before Remington bought them out the barrels were unavailable.  Not so today.  I plan to shoot it tomorrow to see how it shoots.

I'm looking forward to the range report.  My receiver should be back next week with a 30-30 and a 357 barrel.  I've only been able to find 170gr loads though.

Nick,

I think that will be an excellent combo.  I have been watching for a Hornet barrel for a while now but haven't come up with one.  Yet.

Good show.

Were you able to get out this weekend?  My cc just got hit for my barrels so I should probably get something on the porch by the end of the week.  I work Sat and have to pick up my boy from college Sun, but will be punching paper with the new barrels in short order.
