SCoot;
  Your post about Terraplane brought something to mind.  Way back, the Terraplane and Essex were both brands under the Hudson Motor co. brand. Evidently (according to one website anyway) pickups of the 1930s were branded with any of the 3 names.
  From what I have been told the Terraplanes had a good reputation, but the Essex vehicles were often referred to as "Ass-aches"! ;)

I owned an unrestored 1947 M5 Stude pickup. She was all there , all original , but needed ground up resto .

When worked forced me to move north I couldn't afford to transport so I gave the stude to a friend who was a mechanic associated with Atlanta motor speedway. I think the 47's were the best looking.

When I was born my dads work truck was a studebaker, not sure what year but I was born in 45. I barely remember the old studebaker which my dad gave to my brother when he started his tile company. Daddy bought a new pickup then in 1952. He picked it up in Michigan at the factory and being thanksgiving it was cold to this Florida boy. But I rode with dad all the way home in that old pickup without a heater, while mom followed behind in our family car. A 1952 Plymouth.

Memories;
   A neighboring farmer had a '47 Studebaker pickup (red) when I was a teenager in the early '50s.. I sure admired that truck...
