I just picked up my Encore 12 guage turkey barrel and foreend from my professional gun shop.  Unfortunately, it was near closing time and they quickly sent me on my way.  Back at home, I find the 209 X 50 foreend screws are not the same as the 12 guage foreend (as I presumed since no screws were evident in the unsealed foreend box).  Not really gonna be a problem when I make the 15 mile trip to pick em up Monday but just the same, I didn't get a kiss to go with this unfortunate situation on Valentine's Day.

I guess here is my question now that I am through whining . . .

Do each of the foreends have different size screws or is it only the 209 X 50 that is unique?

Mike, the fastest way to get your project put together is to call the young lady at T/C and they will get the missing screws to you within a couple of days......I can't remember if the screws came with my forend or not. You will enjoy it once it comes together.

All the forends that I've ordered have come with screws. Don't the two(209x50 & 12 ga.) have their forends mounted differently due to the ram rod hole? Maybe your gunshop didn't get kissed so he just passed the quickie on to you. :)  Sorry, I couldn't resist. Too bad about your experience but T/C is leaving a lot to be desired here lately. I still say they're sub-contracting work out for service and quality to be suffering like it is. A production manager can't have his head up his @$$ for this long and still be employeed.

You guys are both correct.  I will solve the problem tomorrow with a phone call or a trip back to the shop where I bought the barrel.  Funny thing, I made this layaway purchase because the store sale saved me about $25 from anywhere else I could get it (or so I thought/time vs. money!).

Now for my future thoughts about Encore transactions.

I live just a few miles from Ed's shop of Ed's TC and went to see him a few weeks ago for some ideas (after the 12 guage barrel was already in layaway).  Bought a scope from him, he helped me install it and life was wonderful.

Flash, the screws are different due to the ramrod, apparently not only in length but thread size.

All my future business goes to Ed, rather than the layaway gun store mentioned above.  All you guys on this forum that speak so highly of Ed and his business practices are correct.  I am even more fortunate to have him so close.  He gets my business from now on!

My seller store is in denial and says the screws must be in the box and that I am just not smart enough to find them!

Phone call tomorrow to Ed or TC and I be my problem is solved--and my future buying questions.

Oh????? According to Mike (last name can't be used on this forum, but he
makes the over-sized hinge pins), T/C's production manager is so mean

Being fearful means they aren't good at their job either. T/C is sending their customers to places like Mossberg, Savage and New England
Arms. I bought an Encore and have my share of Contenders but I'm starting to look elswhere for new hardware. The little use that my guns get and extreme care will make them last a lifetime and longer. The poor  service and quality is going to spell T/C's doom in the 21st Century. The eyesight is making me lean towards scoped rifles more and more so T/C doesn't have a economical and dependable product for me any longer.

Flash, I know exactly what ya mean. The concept behind the Encore is
very good. But T/C screwed me once and it's their fault. If they do it
again, it's mine. The last two barrels I got was from Virgin Valley. In
the event I get another receiver, it will be from Virgin Valley. Granted,
it will have originally come from T/C, but it will also have been
thoroughly checked out by VVCG and given a decent trigger job. Any
other barrels or forearms will come from VVCG. If you turn out to be
correct about T/C going out of business, I just hope some responsible
company gets the patent rights on that frame!!!

Screws on the way!

Called TC and the very nice lady from Customer Service said she would mail them right away.  Hoping this is the end to this story!

The check (screws) is/are still in the mail.  Much further from New Hampshire to Oklahoma than I imagined!

TC can't have that much trouble mailing a standard item, can they?
